Call for Papers of IFIP-ICEC2025 Workshop: Accessibility and Empowerment Research Summit
About IFIP-ICEC:
The 24th International Federation for Information Processing – International Conference on Entertainment Computing (IFIP-ICEC 2025) will be held in Tokyo, Japan on 27-30 August. The conference is organized by the IFIP TC14 – Entertainment Computing Technical Committee, and will be hosted by Nihon University.
IFIP-ICEC is the longest lasting and prime scientific conference series in the area of Entertainment Computing. It brings together practitioners, researchers, artists, designers, and industry on the design, creation, development, use, application and evaluation of digital entertainment content and experience systems. This event covers a diverse array of related research issues, including interactive art, game-based learning, XR technologies and ethical considerations associated with entertainment.
This year, we plan to host a workshop in Tokyo (Japan) on the topic “Accessibility and Empowerment Research Summit”. Workshop participants are invited to submit a full research paper for a peer-review process. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings as a book in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series, indexed by EI and Scopus.
Topic:
Accessibility and Empowerment Research Summit
Introduction:
Building upon the success of previous workshops, this year’s edition focuses on advancing accessibility, inclusion, and empowerment through the synergy of game accessibility research and generative AI. We aim to address critical gaps, opportunities, and challenges in leveraging AI to create equitable and transformative solutions for marginalized communities. Researchers, practitioners, and industry experts are invited to collaborate on interdisciplinary discussions and actionable frameworks.
Research papers on (but are not limited to) the following topics are of mutual interest to this workshop:
- Evolution of Game Accessibility: Significant progress in accessible controllers, development kits, educational materials, inclusive design processes, and research on neglected groups like deafblind gamers and people with cognitive disabilities.
- Generative AI and Social Value: AI enhances efficiency, fosters collaboration, and optimizes resource allocation in underserved regions. However, it also raises conflicts such as intellectual property issues, debates over AI-generated content, and ethical concerns related to privacy, bias, and job displacement.
Call for Submission:
Authors can submit their manuscripts online through the EasyChair conference submission system.
All submissions should be written in English, and should be anonymized. Submissions should contain sufficient detail, including key concepts and innovations of the completed work, and be formatted according to the Springer LNCS format (https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-guidelines). Submissions should be no more than eight pages, excluding references and appendices, and accepted papers will be invited to share live on the day of the workshop.
