Dunne & Raby recently said that “when technology is developing as rapidly as it is now, reflections and criticism are particularly important. We need to consider alternative visions to those put forward by industries. Design, being accessible, contemporary and part of popular culture, is perfectly positioned to perform this role.” (58, 2021)
Technology, and by extension, design is part of and shapes our lives. By promoting intellectual achievements and pertinent inquiries into the discursive and critical relations between design theory and practice, the Journal seeks to contribute to the conception of a broader image of contemporary design. The global relations between the social, political, and economic fields, as well as the entangled histories of various cultural traditions, epistemic claims and aesthetic practices of modernity, both within and outside Europe, will be reflected in the theoretical studies published and promoted by our journal. In parallel, we also profoundly encourage our future contributors to look at how these relations influence and shape current design.
