They are limited to a strict maximum of 3 pages, including references. For more details and guidance on what to include in your extended abstrasct, follow the templates from the link above.
- Video presentation. Your video presentation should be considered as an “elevator pitch” for your project and is a maximum 10 minutes in length. Talk about what you did, say why it’s interesting/challenging/relevant, describe how you did whatever you did, show some of your key results/analysis, critically address any limitations of your current system/approach and mention what you think the most interesting next steps or further research would be will include a brief description of your project and a link to your video presentation. You can upload your video to a remote site such as YouTube or Vimeo, or alternatively you can upload the video file to a folder on a cloud storage service such as Dropbox or OneDrive. The video must be available until at least after the date of the conference (October 12th) so do not delete the file or otherwise restrict access until after this date. You must also submit a short abstract of your video presentation (maximum of one page) that briefly describes the work that you present and contains a URL link to your video. For an abstract template and more details and guidance on what to include in your video presentation, follow the templates link above.
A panel of academics and industry experts will assess the abstracts and select the most innovative and interesting dissertations/projects for oral and poster presentations. The panel’s decisions will be communicated with students in due course.
- If your work is selected for oral presentation, then you will be allocated a 10-minute slot on the conference day for a formal presentation to all participants. The slot will include both presentation and Q&A time. You are advised to use visual aids such as PowerPoint slides during the presentation. A mock presentation session will be hosted by members of the panel to provide constructive feedback beforehand.
- If your work is selected for poster presentation, then you will be allocated a stand to display poster on the conference day to engage in one-to-one conversations with interested practitioners. There will be poster spotlight sessions in-between keynote talks and oral presentations to highlight the exhibited work. The panel will provide instructions and tips on how to create the poster and host a feedback session beforehand.
The conference will be sponsored by key industry players and there will be several prizes for the best nominated contributions. Selected abstracts will be submitted for publication on Arxiv.
