The 29th Annual Conference of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) – CILT(UK), Logistics Research Network (LRN), will take place from 3-5 September 2025 at Sheffield University Management School.
As well as the usual LRN PhD workshop on the morning of 3rd September 2025, the conference will feature:
● Invited keynote addresses from leading academics / business players from logistics, transport and supply chain.
● Panel discussions with industry leaders on key themes in relation to sustainable logistics and supply chain.
● Presentations of papers in parallel tracks covering a range of key topics.
● Specialist streams on various aspects of sustainable logistics and supply chain management.
● Networking opportunities
Submission Guidelines
LRN 2025 will showcase leading-edge research in all areas of innovation and sustainability in logistics, transport and supply chain management. We invite participants to submit papers at this influential event. Topics include, but are not limited to:
● Strategies for sustainable logistics and supply chain management - Circular economy, reverse/closed-loop logistics, nearshoring,
● Decarbonising Transport and Logistics - Alternative fuels (e.g., hydrogen, biofuels), Electric vehicle (EV) adoption and charging infrastructure for logistics fleets, zeroemission transports and their required infrastructure, and strategies to decarbonise logistics, e.g., route optimisation and load consolidation.
● Technology and Data-Driven Supply Chain Optimisation - Logistics services, 3PL/4PL, Packaging, transportation, and distribution, robots and drones for logistics services, blockchain for supply chain visibility, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
● Logistics and Supply Chain Management for Humanitarian and Disaster Relief - Supply chain strategies, resilient supply chains for humanitarian operations, disaster response, humanitarian aid logistics, emergency logistics.
● Last-Mile and Urban Logistics Solutions – Optimising last-mile delivery for urban areas, role of micro-hubs and urban consolidation centres, drones, autonomous vehicles, and smart lockers for last-mile logistics, reducing congestion and emissions in city logistics, etc.
Greening Logistics and Transport Infrastructure – Designing sustainable transport corridors and logistics hubs, investment in green warehousing and energy-efficient buildings, renewable energy integration in logistics operations, green supply chain management.
● Global and Multimodal Supply Chain Networks – Air Freight Innovations, Sustainable Maritime Logistics, Intermodal Transport Optimization, Port Operations and Efficiency, Rail freight transport,
● Educating Future Logistics and Supply Chain Professionals – approaches to teaching logistics and supply chain, bridging knowledge gaps between graduates and industry needs through innovative teaching, real-world data integration, and sustainable logistics education.
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.
