Call for Presentations, Posters, Workshops and Demonstrations
UCL’s second Festival of Digital Research, Innovation and Scholarship will celebrate all aspects of digital research and scholarship from across the University.
Do you work or study at UCL? Do you make use of digital tools and technologies and/or computational tools for your research?
Then this event is for you!
We are inviting abstracts for presentations, posters and proposals for workshops. Submission can relate to previously published work you’ve already published elsewhere, to projects that are recently started, or to ideas that you have for the future.
Themes:
- AI/machine learning
- Visualising data – including 3D, AR/VR, maps, graphics and more
- Using data for impact
- Open scholarship – data, software and code
- High Performance Computing
- Equity, fairness, sustainability and ethics in digital research
- Other applications of digital research and scholarship
Special sessions:
We are planning two special sessions:
- Digital Twins – we’d love to showcase UCL’s extensive expertise across all aspects of this topic
- Tell Us About Your Community – are you an organiser or member of one of UCL’s many community groups with a focus on the software, tools, techniques and people that enable digital research and scholarship? Come and let us know what your group is all about and recruit new members!
Important Dates/How to Participate
Submitters should keep in mind that the reviewers – and the audience at the Festival – will be from across UCL. Please ensure that your submission can be understood by a wide audience. Option 1 - Presentation Submit a 300-400 word abstract outlining your presentation and how your work contributes to digital scholarship. Option 2 - Poster Submit a 250 word abstract outlining your poster and how your work contributes to digital scholarship. Option 3 – Workshop or Demonstration Submit a 400-500 word abstract outlining your workshop and how this links with digital scholarship. You should specify the resources/room setup that you need (e.g. a computer lab, classroom, guest Wi-Fi access), the target audience and how you plan to recruit participants.
Option 4 – Suggest an Idea Let us know if you have ideas for other activities that can showcase digital research and scholarship. |

Option 5 – Propose a Community Want to connect with others across UCL who are using the same digital research tools and techniques as you? Why not proposed a new community group and organise a mini-meetup during hte festival? |
