Abstract

Ransomware attacks have become a significant cybersecurity threat, causing substantial financial losses and operational disruptions across various sectors. This research paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of ransomware attacks, including their evolution, impacts on organizations and individuals, and effective countermeasures. The paper examines different types of ransomware, attack vectors, and encryption techniques employed by attackers. It also explores the economic aspects of ransomware, such as ransom payment mechanisms and the rise of ransomware-as-a-service. Furthermore, the paper discusses key strategies for preventing ransomware attacks, including network security measures, backup and recovery strategies, employee awareness training, and incident response planning. The findings and recommendations presented in this paper will assist organizations and individuals in understanding and mitigating the risks associated with ransomware attacks.
