Case Study: Ups Communication CareerEasyChair Preprint 970233 pages•Date: February 14, 2023AbstractAfter a simple documentary review, it can be established that the intersection between the categories: "communication", "gender" and "academy" has not been studied. Gender Studies from the perspective of communication maintain an exogenous gaze. They study gender as something foreign to their reality, without analyzing their own permeation in the development of research within Higher Education Institutions. Thus, the objective of this research was to determine the presence of the gender theme in the degree projects (2016-2021) developed by students of the communication career, in Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca from UPS. This was done through the creation of a database, where key parameters were recorded that allowed reaching the first major result, which showed that 9.77% of the 798-degree projects collected between the proposed years, analyze some category related to this topic. Other cross-checks were also carried out to establish trends in terms of topics, objects, and subjects of study. It is understood that the content that IES emphasize in their programs and classes is the one that permeates the interests of their students and will influence the generation of knowledge and science. This inductive look will allow not only to make an introspection as an academy, also will help to establish clear parameters regarding how the different courses are being managed, so that important premises such as "gender" permeate in the interests of students and in their scientific work.
