CAOS 2025: Editor's Preface

About the volume:

This volume contains a subset of the papers presented at CAOS 2025: The 25th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery held on June 16-19, 2025, in Davos, CH.

There were 91 submissions, and each was reviewed by at least two program committee members, one of whom was clinical and the other with a technical background. The committee decided to accept 59 papers for podium presentation, 10 for a special poster and short podium presentation, and 12 for poster presentation. Authors of 34 of these opted into this open access proceedings volume.

About the conference:

In 2025, for the 25th anniversary CAOS meeting was held in Davos, CH, the home of the first CAOS meeting in the year 2000. Over the past 25 years, the landscape of orthopaedic surgery and other operating rooms has changed significantly. The journey has not been straightforward, with its fair share of challenges. However, CAOS, or more appropriately, “surgeon enabling technologies,” are now part of daily practice in orthopaedics. The synergy of clinical research, advanced engineering methodologies, and modern technologies supports the trend towards personalized solutions for optimizing therapy for each individual patient. The CAOS conference has been dedicated to interdisciplinary research, aiming at the development and evaluation of tools that provide a better link between patient-specific planning information and surgical action.

This 25th anniversary meeting was run in conjunction with EORS and aimed to connect professionals dedicated to improving individual patient care through the use of up-to-date technology to enhance outcomes.
